Primavera Sound Barcelona and NOS Primavera in Porto were beautiful. Happy to be back home.
Apologies for any delays in shipping, should have a bunch of stuff being sent out in the next few days.
Have a big tour announcement coming this Monday.
I'll start with the last thing first. We have 3 shows coming up.
5/28 - Providence RI - Fete Lounge w/ Burning Paris and Prior Panic
5/29 - Brooklyn NY - Market Hotel w/ A Deer A Horse and Kira McSpice
5/30 - Cambridge MA - The Sinclair w/ Bat House and Gentle Heat
First thing second. We got 3 of our record (Magic Isn't Real, Dripping, and You're Better Than This) remastered by Bob Weston. You can pre-order LPs of these represses through our bandcamp site. They won't ship until October. But you can listen to the new masters everywhere on the internet.
Lastly, we'll be away from our shipping post until late June (we have to practice for these shows away from home and then we're going to Primavera) so we won't be able to ship out anything until at least then.
All dates are posted in the concerts section under the "Just Rick" tab.
March 19th, the Boston date, will be a performance that can be either attended in-person or live streamed.
Going to try to go on a solo tour. The dates are below and the tickets go on sale on Friday. There'll also be a live stream on March 19th from the Church of the Covenant in Boston. Tickets for that are on sale now via bandcamp

We just crossed the 2 year mark since the last show that we played as a band. Performing live was the biggest source of income that we had had has a group. With that in mind, I’d like to say thank you for supporting us in other ways. By buying our wares and listening to us you’ve been able to help keep things afloat.
I’ve been trying to get everything in order for the coming year, but who knows what those plans will end up being with this pandemic. Regardless of what happens in regards to live performances, we finished tracking a record and we’ll be releasing it in early 2023.
There are a few other things coming up this year: announcing a big solo tour for early spring, releasing the movie to Songs Known Together, Alone to a streaming purchase platform (so you don’t have to download it to watch it), playing Primavera (in Barcelona and Porto), remastering a handful of our old LPs, and doing a tour and live stream in the fall commemorating the 10 year anniversary of Dripping.
Also, if you’ve ordered an LP of In the Corners of a Sphere-Filled Room, I apologize for how long it’s taken to get to you. They were supposed to be in our hands by late November but, as far as I know, they are still yet to exist in the material world. I’ll try to keep you apprised of the situation via the usual channels.
I think that about covers it. More details on all of the above soon. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions (hq@pilemusic.com). Thank you again for your support. I hope you and yours stay safe and sane out there.
There’s not a whole lot by way of what I think is earth-rattling news to deliver, but I do have a weird smattering of things that I feel an inclination to report. Firstly, we’ve been working on a new record and we’re about to go track that, so while that’s exciting for me, you won’t be able to hear it for a probably pretty long while so that doesn’t really do much for you.
That being said, we’re going to be out of town for a while so shipping things is going to be off the table during that time. If you’ve ordered an LP of “In the Corners of a Sphere-Filled Room” from us (we’re sold out now but you can still buy them from Improved Sequence), which releases November 19th, we unfortunately will not be able to ship it out until after December 7th. And anything ordered October 17th or after will not be shipped out until after December 7th.
Speaking of Improved Sequence, they’ve done a 2nd pressing of Demonstration LPs and they’re available through their bandcamp. and They’ll also be giving us a few copies, which will be available to purchase through our bandcamp on December 3rd (again those will not ship until after the 7th of December).
We’re running low on many of our records. We’re going to be re-pressing them but as you may or may not know, there’s a bit of a bottleneck at the ol’ making place. When we do re-press them I’ll have some exciting news to report, but until then this will just be another thing I’m pleased about and am withholding from you until the time is just right. If you feel like getting any and getting them in your hands before December, I would order them now.
If you’ve had some interest in ordering an LP of “Songs Known Together, Alone,” I would advise you to buy it from Exploding In Sound Records, because we are out of it. It’s a limited pressing of LPs and we’re not making any more so once they’re out they’re gone forever. You can still get the digital album from our bandcamp, and a purchase of the record in any form comes with a video of the performance of the whole album. Below is one song from the performance
I’m currently booking a tour in support of “Songs Known Together, Alone,” which means it’s a solo tour. We’ll be doing some full band shows in the fall (and maybe a couple in the spring) of 2022. But until then, these are the solo dates:
I have booked some of these dates, but I certainly have not booked all of them. If you know or someone you know might want to help me do that, I’m open to it and would be grateful. I’m trying to play mostly unconventional venues but I’m flexible.
The noise/improv album we released in May, “In the Corners of a Sphere-Filled Room” is on most of the streaming platforms now.
Daniel Rinaldi created an experimental film including a track from that record.
Into the Corners of a Sphere-Fille6 Room from Danny Rinaldi on Vimeo.
Billy Yang created a film starring ultra-marathoner Anton Krupicka. Turns out Anton’s a fan and included some of our music (17:10).
I can’t imagine I’ll be doing any posting or updating with any regularity in the next few months, but if you enjoy these charming, long-form, sporadic, mostly shipping and inventory-related newsletters, click on that button to the left to subscribe to this list.
“Songs Known Together, Alone” out on Exploding in Sound Records on August 20th
This was recorded in October of 2020. These songs were performed (mostly) live and are reimagined versions of previously released material. Go here for credits, track-listing and info on pre-ordering.
This performance was filmed and the video of the entire record will be included with purchase of the record. Below are two videos from the album.
Along with a double LP and video of the performance, there are bundles available here including a poster, a t-shirt, and a roast made specially for this release from Quartertone Coffee.
Those bundles can be purchased here.
I plan on touring the lower 48 of the U.S. in support of this record. If there’s a spot you think might be a good fit for this kind of thing, please contact hq@pilemusic.com
